Southside Lenny 40 years on the road playing music ,never owned a car,,lived in converted buses, RV's,, Lenny was told he was born in the country side not to far from Chicago in the mid fifties ,at a very young age he ran away from his home and lived on the road. In his early years he spent time living on the streets in Chicago listening to blues musicians and learning his trade, Soon he was playing on street corners and at outdoor events traveling from town to town, Lenny has never lived in a house or apartment since he was a child rather traveled in small RV's that accommodated his nomadic lifestyle, Lenny traveled mostly in the midwest in the summer and south in the winter ,Living years on the road without any other income than what was made from his recordings has certainly influenced his style as a performing artist.
